I’m a passionate photographer that lives in small town Springville, NY who loves coffee and craft beer, but above all else I’m a mother. My beautiful, talented, quirky (blame that on her father) and big-hearted daughter is suddenly a high-school junior. I always hated when “old people” talked about how fast it all goes by, but man…yesterday she was six and now she’s sixteen. My heart swells with pride watching her become an incredible young woman, and breaks at the same time as she grows up and no longer hides behind my knee when something scary happens. Well, except when we went to see the movie “It”; she has a healthy fear of clowns, it seems.
If I’m not taking photos, sitting at my computer editing, or catching up on the latest happenings in the world of a teenager, you’ll find me in one of three places:
Snuggling with Delilah, an impossibly-fluffy Himalayan cat with a penchant for 6am wake-up calls, and Squirt, our miniature dachshund who is a total jerk in the endearing, Jekyll and Hyde style that only dogs can effectively pull off. Have you ever seen a 15-pound dog eat eight hamburger rolls? How about two pounds of dog-food? Or an entire bag of dark-chocolate Hershey’s kisses? No? Well, I have. Welcome to the world of Squirt, savior of and provider for emergency vet clinics across the land. And he’s perfect.
Working out, either at home or in the gym. Whoever created cardio was a horrible person, but I grudgingly admit to its benefits. Lifting weights, however - that’s the mark of a refined and sophisticated individual with impeccable taste. Sign me up.
Traveling, whenever and wherever possible. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been to the Adirondacks High Peaks area, Lake Placid in particular, to hike and bask in the fresh mountain air. Aside from that, my family is always on a quest to see someplace new and we’ve been lucky enough to set foot in some incredible locales - Acadia National Park, the Rockies, Arches National Park, Yosemite, road-tripping through the Pacific Northwest and too many more to list. If you can combine a far-off destination with a major-league baseball game, you’re really onto something special; I’ve seen games in 14 stadiums and counting.
